The target users are developers building AI agents, research automation, and workflows where traceable research matters. This is not a general consumer search app.
What is usable today includes the public dashboard, batch pages, GitHub repo, and developer workflow. What is still not fully open is the customer-facing API with self-serve onboarding, pricing, and public SLA terms.
Closest alternatives include OpenAI deep-research-style API tools, Gemini Deep Research, Perplexity Sonar Deep Research, and You.com’s research APIs. Harnyx appears stronger in inspectability because its code and dashboard are public. It is weaker in product readiness, customer proof, and commercial packaging.
Harnyx is real and active, but still early as a purchasable API product. It matters most for developers building AI agents that need cheaper, cited research at scale.
