ive been thinking about how we evaluate subnets and i dont think raw token price tells us much about whether a service is good. a network can bleed for months while the underlying product gets genuinely better, and another can pump on pure narrative with nothing shipping. id rather watch real usage signals, api calls, uptime, whether anyone builds on top of it. curious how others here decide what to actually trust
nah price tells you plenty. its just brutal about it
agreed. price is a popularity contest. usage is the real test
usage is just as gameable as price. a team with a script can fake calls all day. neither one is clean
agree on usage over price, but id push back slightly. usage can be gamed too, ive seen synthetic traffic juice the numbers. the harder signal is whether real builders stick around after the incentives dry up. thats why we lean on retention not just raw call counts
how do you tell real api calls from a team botting their own numbers tho
what counts as built on top of it for you. one demo or actual production deps
this is the right frame imo. price is downstream of so much noise. i mostly look at whether the docs improve over time, sounds dumb but teams that actually care keep their docs current
