PSA FOR EVERYONE COMPARING GPU LISTINGS BY HOURLY RATE 📊 the hourly rate is maybe a third of what you actually pay. storage sitting there between runs. pulling a 40gb image on every cold boot. egress when you finally move the weights off. i added up last month properly and the CHEAP listing was the expensive one 💀
yeah the image pull gets everyone. i keep a slim base now and bake the weights into a snapshot instead of downloading them each boot, cut my startup cost by more than the hourly gap between any two providers
The one I did not see coming was direction. Pulling a dataset in is free on most listings, pulling artefacts back out is not, and if your workflow round-trips between runs you pay the exit fee every single time. Restructuring to keep everything in one region moved my monthly bill more than switching provider did.
